Who we are. Brighter Days (Shropshire) CIC, company number 17298504, registered office Shelve Villa, Minsterley, Shropshire. We decide how the information on this site is used, which makes us the data controller. You can reach us at info@brighter-days.org.uk. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office as a data controller, registration ZC210608. You can check that on the ICO's public register at ico.org.uk.

What we collect. If you fill in our contact form, we collect your name, your email address, the organisation you named if you gave one, the topics you ticked, and whatever you wrote in the message. That is all we ask for and we do not ask for anything we do not need.

Our form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you are a person rather than a bot. To do that it sends your IP address to Cloudflare.

Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard technical records of requests to the site in order to run and protect it.

If you donate. Donations are taken by Stripe, a payment company, on Stripe's own secure pages. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us; we never see them and we never store them. Stripe tells us your name, your email address and what you gave, so that we can thank you, answer any question about your donation, and keep the accounting records the law requires us to keep.

If you set up a monthly donation, Stripe keeps your details for as long as it runs, because that is how the monthly payment is taken. You can cancel at any time by emailing info@brighter-days.org.uk and we will stop it, usually within two working days.

Donation records are part of our company accounts, so we keep them for six years, which is what accounting law requires. That is longer than we keep ordinary messages, and this paragraph is why.

Brighter Days is a community interest company, not a registered charity, so donations are not eligible for Gift Aid. How Stripe itself handles your information is described in Stripe's own privacy policy.

We use Google Analytics to see how the site is being used. It only runs if you agree to it when you arrive; if you do not, it is switched off and no analytics information is stored on your device. It tells us things like which pages people read and roughly where in the world they were, and it never tells us who you are.

What we do with it. We read your message and we reply to it. Nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not use it to advertise anything to you.

Our legal basis. We rely on our legitimate interest in replying to people who get in touch with us. If you would rather we did not hold your details at all, tell us and we will delete them.

Where it goes. Your message is sent to us by email using Resend, an email delivery service, and it arrives in our info@brighter-days.org.uk mailbox. That mailbox runs on Microsoft 365. It is not stored in any database, because we do not have one.

How long we keep it. Your message stays in our mailbox while the conversation is live and for up to two years afterwards, so that we can pick up where we left off if you come back to us. After that we delete it. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we will.

Your rights. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to us using it. Just email us and we will do it. If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes. If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and say when we changed it.
